Mulling spice is a mixture in drink recipes. A “mulled” drink has been prepared with these spices by usually through heating the drink in a pot with mulling spices and then strained. Mulling spices may also be added to the brewing process to make spiced beer.

-Simmer 4 Cups of Red Wine, Cranberry or Apple Juice. You don't have to spend a lot on the wine, a nice Pinot Noir or Merlot will be wonderful.
-Pack the mulling bag with spices, crush with a mallet or heavy object. Take it easy on the bags they are fragile. When you run out of bags you can use a metal tea ball or a coffee filter.
-Simmer the spice bag in liquid for at least 30 minutes, making sure not to boil. Taste your creation. You may want to leave the spices in much longer. When using a crock-pot you can leave on low for 4 to 6 hrs, keep adding liquids and another sac of spices.
-Take out spices or leave in to intensify flavor. Add sliced apples, pears, or oranges to add flavor. The fruits will soak up the spices and alcohol and be a tasty treat.
Crock pots are ideal for making this recipe and keeping warm. You can spike this recipe with Rum, Whiskey or Brandy.

Any of these make an excellent mulled beverage, however try mixing several together for a delicious change of pace.
